I recently acquired a copy of "DragonArt: How to draw Fantastic Dragons and Fantasy Creatures" By
neondragon and I loved the book so much and found it so helpful that I wanted to tell ya'll about it. Or do a sort of review of it. And for all of ya'll who have a copy then you can either agree with what I say or don't. This is my review and I shall say what I want but you might enjoy the collection of deviations I have listed as extra reading material.
The ReviewFirst off, I want to say that I love the little tour guide, Dolosus, that
neondragon provided to lead us on our journey as we learned about the many parts of dragons. He safely and humorously guided us through the ins and outs of drawing these dangerous but sometimes friendly creatures.
With each new aspect we are introduced to,
neondragon demonstrates how to draw another dragon with step-by-step instructions. From this guide you can learn how to draw many different types of dragons and hopefully by the end of the book your own dragon character has begun to take shape or improve.
As the book is only 127 pages long you can not fit every aspect of drawing dragons into that limited space but I commend
neondragon's accomplishment of showing artists the basics needed to get off the ground. As an added bonus she does teach us how to draw a few fantasy creatures such as the Kirin and the Pheonix which is like the icing on a very delicious cake.
Now with every subject there are those who learn better when things are taught in a different light. That is why I have included some extra tutorials, found here on DA, that show a lot of the same things featured in this book but presented in a slightly different manner or they are explained in more depth. So thanks for reading and enjoy your journey with Dragons and the other creatures of their world.
Further ReadingNote: If you find a tutorial or good reference, on DA, that helped you and you think it should be listed here then please leave a comment with the link. Thanks! KyriaDori's
